This is something I always find so amusing.
When we invest in a stock, it's only commonsense because we find that the stock represent a truly wonderful business and we are given an opportunity to invest in it a great price.
Defensive stocks? LOL!
What about Offensive stocks?
Do you reckon investing in defensive stocks just because they are 'defensive' stocks a good, 100% safe strategy during a bear market?
Anyway I am writing this post because of the comments written by Frank Barbera posted on FSO market-wrap. What is truly great is that he came up with hard facts to back what he is saying.
Enjoy!
moola,
ReplyDeleteWhat do you define as "defensive" stocks and "offensive" stocks, first of all? Or rather, how would you define them?
(Brought up sth for me to think about, tho`...)
UB,
ReplyDeleteDo spend sometime reading that link.
At least someone took great effort in showing that there is no conclusive evidence that such strategy will work.
cheers
ps. personally i think this type of investing strategy is plain silly. You buy a stock because it is good. Else, why buy?
Oic..
ReplyDeleteThe link that you provided there points to the current article.. but anyhow I found the one you were referring to in their archive...
digesting~ (*burp*)
...
BTW, today's article looks interesting... "The Stock Market Looks Overvalued - Now it’s technically weak" -- it shows the P/E of the S&P 500 going above that "green line" and all... what's your opinion on the projected imminent downward correction as propounded by Martin Goldberg?
Just askin` your opinion for discussion purpose.. (not askin` u to look in a crystal ball)... no pressure :)
